I had a surprise call on Wednesday to do the flowers for a wedding at Shearsby Bath in Leicestershire the next day! A happy Thursday wedding amidst the pandemic. Yes please, I was overjoyed at the news. The couple wanted to get married before the Covid 15-person at a wedding maximum celebration rule change came in and so it was all hands to the deck! With precautions obviously.
The stunning Shearsby Bath Orangery was decorated with a beautiful mix of white and blue flowers and lots of different textured lush greens, which complimented the room’s and the bride’s wedding flower and wedding theme colours. A wish list certainly granted!
At Shearsby Bath Leicestershire they have fabulous huge chandeliers. So, part of this wedding was a huge floral ceiling hanging installation with the wedding flowers on them as part of the centrepieces and overall look for the room.
This wedding was part of one of my new collaborations as trusted Wedding Florist with Shearsby Bath in Leicestershire that I have started doing this year, I have been excited to get my hands on this venue since I moved to a new house as it is now my local wedding spot. I am also hosting my Christmas workshops in the marquee here (fingers crossed) which should be very grand indeed!
Roses, thistle, Veronica spray rose, sweet smelling freesias, hydrangeas, eucalyptus, amaranths, ruscus flower, blue berries and viburnum came together on my tall copper wedding flower stands beautifully.
Roses play a huge part in the tradition of wedding as they symbolise passion. A white rose means purity, and a pink one signifies joy and admiration. The same goes for hyacinths: The white variety means loveliness; and the blue kind represents constancy.
During Victorian times, for example, flowers were used to express emotions when words and gestures failed. Today, many couples follow this romantic practice and create bouquets and centrepieces with flowers whose meanings have some significance to them.
Congratulations to the brand-new Mr and Mrs Dan & Sophie… doing it against the odds, making it even more special. I wish you all the best for the future.
