So 2020, the year of the Coronavirus has hit my industry (wedding flowers) HARD… I had so many beautiful weddings booked in this year that I was looking forward to creating flower displays and decorations for and understandably 99.9% of them have decided to reschedule their special day to 2021 so that they can have the wedding day they have always dreamed of and planned for. And I don’t blame them.
However, for one determined couple I had the pleasure of getting back to wedding flower work head on last week… thank you to Aby and Paul! Against all odds!
They decided that Friday the 28th of August 2020 was still going to be their special day… and they didn’t half make it special.
Their original plans were for a large wedding which due to restrictions became a small and intimate affair. Everything seemed to be against them for only a couple of weeks before the date their venue cancelled on them, they tried to book a restaurant but were turned down and things were not looking hopeful…
But then stepped up their fabulous family and friends; an old war storage shed at her sister’s was transformed into a bespoke wedding reception, the floor was mud up until two weeks before as they laid a new concrete floor which was then carpeted AND my talented cousins and auntie made a spectacular chandelier, drapes and curtains
Yummy individual picnic boxes were sourced for the catering and I had the honour of providing the wedding flowers (of course!). The couple went for a combination of quicksand roses, David Austin roses and hydrangea thistles with various lush foliage.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Jackson! Again, against all the odds, and what a special day you created. One I will certainly never forget!
