The wedding season is always filled with excitement and anticipation, but this year, there was a wedding that surpassed all expectations. Set in the picturesque county of Dandelion Hideaway, Newton Burgoland, Leicestershire, this much-anticipated event became the talk of the town. As a florist entrusted with creating a breathtaking ambiance, I found myself at the heart of the preparations for the biggest wedding of the year. Amidst the challenges of COVID-induced rescheduling and scorching summer heat, the day finally arrived, leaving everyone in awe.
It was the hottest day of the year at 31oC which wasn’t fun for my flowers (which prefer cooler climates!) but that wasn’t stopping us!
When the big day arrived, the sun blazed overhead, turning the already picturesque landscape into a breathtaking scene. As a florist, I found myself challenged by the scorching heat, requiring me to be extra cautious with delicate flowers. With meticulous planning and preparation, we managed to keep the blooms fresh and vibrant throughout the day. The beauty of the floral arrangements against the backdrop of nature’s splendour was a sight to behold.
I asked the Bride in the planing stage “Do you trust me?” And she did and totally let me design something truly wonderful, which I couldn’t have done without that support.
This Bride & Groom had to move their Wedding date three times during / due to Covid and settled on the 10th June 2023.
In a world still grappling with the aftermath of the pandemic, wedding plans have been subject to numerous changes. This wedding, too, faced its share of uncertainties. Trust played a crucial role as the couple, their families, and the suppliers adapted to shifting dates and evolving regulations. Through mutual understanding and open communication, we built a solid foundation of trust that allowed us to navigate the challenges together.
It was a real treat that the Bride & Groom came in to me in the marquee as I was doing my final checks. I left my checks to last minute due to the heat before the guests came in. Polly the Bride said “OK Steph, where do you want me for a photo?” We got some fabulous pics with the flowers. And so did the photographer…
I want to especially mention The Function Band who provided the perfect soundtrack when we were setting up as they were doing sound checks rehearsing in the heat. They were such fun and I can’t wait to work with them again.
The couple had chosen a marquee wedding, creating an intimate and elegant atmosphere in the midst of nature. The (Covertec Structures) marquee provided shelter from the sun’s rays while allowing the guests to revel in the scenic beauty of Leicestershire. To add an extra touch of magic, a pop-up band (The Function Band) was arranged to entertain the guests. Their energetic sound checks and melodic tunes infused the air with joy and celebration, setting the tone for a memorable day.
A big thank you to the Estate Boys for looking after us all keeping up well hydrated while we set up. We will happily return the favour!
And the food, oh my the food smelled absolutely fantastic and was making us so, so hungry… A wedding feast is incomplete without tantalising Wedding food (Finch Ryan Catering), and this occasion was no exception. As the aroma of delectable dishes wafted through the air, it became evident that no expense had been spared in curating a culinary experience to remember. From mouthwatering appetisers to scrumptious mains and divine desserts, every dish was meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, captivating both the taste buds and the senses.
