About Me
I’m Stephanie Stanley and my love of flowers started at a very young age. As a child I used to enter the children’s sections of shows, and as there was only normally one class for floristry, I often entered the adult’s classes.
By the age of 11 I had started to attend florist evening classes to indulge my passion, I was the youngest there by about 50 years! But this did not put me off.
It’s no secret that I am very dyslexic (you may notice this in my social media posts!) so the academic side of school did not really interest me but I always enjoyed the creative lessons offered. When it came to work experience time when I was 14 I arranged to go to the local florists in Market Bosworth. From my work experience I got a Saturday job there learning commercial skills from the florists.
I had realised that I wanted to have a career in Floristry and so after my GSCE’s I applied to Brooksby College and completed a floristry qualification passing with distinctions.
I went onto work full time at the Market Bosworth florists gaining more valuable experience.
Since 2005
At the age of 19 an opportunity came up to open Flowers by Stephanie in Barwell, where I established my business and developed my own style of floristry.
I have had the honour of realising hundreds of bride’s floral dreams for their special Wedding day which I always enjoy.
I have also provided floral tributes for many people who have passed, which again I feel is a true honour supporting and helping the families to say goodbye to their loved ones.
Then there are the everyday orders that brighten up the day and put a smile on people’s faces.
I also really enjoy teaching others my craft. I was often asked if I would do this and so as and when I could, I delivered flower workshops to teach people how to make their own creations. These have included summer arrangements and one of my specialities my, Christmas wreaths. It is these that have provided me with one of my career highlights, in 2019 and 2021 I created and provided the Christmas wreath’s to No. 10 Downing Street. My business has evolved over the past 17 years as has my personal life, I met and married my husband Chris and we now have two daughters Arya and Erin.
Our family life has taken us to the village of Shearsby, South Leicestershire where we are lucky to have space to have built my own designed for purpose Florist & Workshop Studio.
When the Flower Studio was in the pipeline I came to the hard decision to shut the shop in Barwell but I will forever have very fond memories of my time there and be thankful to the local community for supporting me as a young businesswoman.
The new workshop has given me a bespoke space to work from, to welcome bridal clients into and to hold my floral workshops which I am very excited to be able to offer more of in the future.
