My big sister Amanda and I have always been very close; however, we are very different… She doesn’t even like flowers much * cringe face! * (I’m not going to lie it’s slightly frustrating some days!)

Obviously when Amanda and my future brother in law Kier announced their engagement the date was immediately blanked out in my diary; I was doing those wedding flowers!

The lovely couple had a slightly different/unusual vision for their wedding; they love vintage curiosities and they won’t mind me saying that they see the beauty in things some see as junk! Therefore, a vintage fair wedding / shabby chic wedding / junk theme wedding was born.

When it came to my sister’s wedding, flowers weren’t very high on her list priorities, hence a band, old beer tent style marquee, old helter skelter and vintage swing boats were booked well before she even spoke to me about flowers : ) When we finally spoke about wedding flowers, Kier and Amanda decided that they wanted small arrangements in vintage tins dotted around, I said get plenty as it was a big marquee… There we go, I was on my wedding florist mission!

Amanda chose coral as their main wedding flower colour, with cream and navy accents. Although coral is an unusual colour, I managed to source a rose that matched perfectly with our bridesmaids’ dresses. These roses were mixed with a lighter shade of pink David Austin Rose, silver foliage and eucalyptus in her bridal flower bouquet. The bridesmaids had gypsophila bouquets and the one thing Amanda had requested was gypsophila garlands to adorn the three huge tent poles (bliss!).

More of these flowers were used in the table arrangements and old crates, they had taken my request to get lots of tins very literally, and spent hours collecting them, in the end they had collected well over a hundred and I was determined to fill them all! For someone who isn’t particularly fussed about flowers she ended up with them everywhere!

Their wedding day came, I was told off for being in the marquee making sure the flowers looked perfect rather than getting ready as a maid of honour should be (she was late to church – I’m pretty sure that wasn’t my fault though…). The wedding day was amazing, and fun filled as they wanted. Check the pictures!

The whole wedding came together well, and it looked stunning. I doubt I’ll ever do another wedding with a vaguely similar theme, but that makes it all the more special… oh of course because it was for my big sis. Love you! x
