Welcome to summer and welcome to our new flower studio HQ in Shearsby, Leicestershire. As part of my grand launch and upcoming seasonal workshop program I kicked off in style (and on the hottest day of the year 2022) with the Summer Flower Crown Workshop. Open to adults and children who wanted to learn a new skill or perfect an old one we had a full house (of 10) ready to workshop in our new custom upstairs space!

“Mummy Flowers” had been busy home baking her lemon cake and malt loaf for the girls and we had summer fruits including strawberries, watermelon and raspberries waiting on arrival. It was certainly Pimm’s o’clock from 7pm – 10pm bliss! (Check out the pictures below of the food especially!).

We had so much fun crafting and creating our fresh flower crowns. The crowns are based around wire and the flowers gradually added to in bunches (as you do for an own made Christmas Wreath). Each participant had their own apron and secateurs waiting at their space too. Using the highest quality summer flowers we got to work! You’ll see from our group photos how good the results were. We were festival ready!

Fresh flower crowns are becoming more popular due to their versatility. They make great gifts, photo props, costume opps, party wear, and accessories. You can also learn how to and then make your own for your wedding / Bridesmaids. This kind of workshop and activity is perfect for a girly gathering – We certainly proved this!

It was a beautiful evening all in all and we finished about 9pm, but the ladies stuck around to finished their drinks outside with the flower crowns on and the last of the lovely summer evening light. Even though we’d experienced the hottest day on record for Leicestershire (at 25°c by this time) inside the FByS HQ we had was a nice cool setting of 17°c (we have air conditioning!).

I’m so lucky to have my new workshop and proud of how far I’ve come (I used to have my High Street flower shop in Barwell) – but now there is space most importantly. It’s been hard work (especially through the Covid period) and I can’t wait to host more workshops and welcome more guests : )
